Seer Eyes Wide Open Book 4 edition by Ted Dekker Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

You know how some people just didn't get the Matrix? Well, I felt kind of like that when I finished this. The book is written wonderfully, and I kept reading and reading and couldn't stop. But when it ended, I still had a lot of questions. I just didn't get part of it. But then again, it is the beginning of a series, so maybe that is to be expected.

As always though, Ted Dekker is an awesome writer. Easy to read and catches your attention immediately. I 100% recommend anything he has written.
Because it is not a series of books, it is one story that has been broken into 4 books. And not because it would be God awful huge if it wasn't, like Stephen King's Dark Tower Series or J R R Tolkein's Lord of the Rings trilogy. This was broken into 4 tiny novellas so it the author and publisher could sell one story for the price of 4. And it wasn't even a good story. It was utterly implausible and ridiculous. And what's more, the whole story is essentially this enormous prologue for another series the author is trying to kick off called The Outlaw Chronicles.
I was disappointed that books cost so much. I should've bought the set of books 1 - 4, but I still think the cost was too high. I really was caught in this story from start to finish. This story starts with her thinking she was buried in a casket. We were to find out how she got there but I never did. Tell me if I missed something a long the way. I did enjoy the stories.
This book started off good but it dragged along but made me curious enough to buy the rest of the series but call me dumb but I really didn't understand it at all. I understand that God loves us no matter what we look like and what we have done with our lives and we need to see the light in a dark world but why all the psycho babble? What was it suppose to mean about the Dr. who Austin killed and then he wasn't really dead? Maybe I'll have my husband read it and see if he can get more enlightenment than me. I have read other Dekker books and liked them especially the book "three" this just seemed strange to me...sorry.
Ted always leaves with me wanting more of his stories as it is very refreshing and know that I will get a great read and great incite to his writing. When anyone gets comfortable with a certain type of writer that person knows what he or she will get. A great read in the comfort of his/her home. it is like a friend to someone who is so talented. May Ted continue to write for a long time. I believe most writers write because they have great imaginations and want to excel and inspire others to either write or read. Remember, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."
Well we made it to the end of this rollercoaster of a series and was it worth the ride? Oh yes and a little no.

The final installment has the same thundering suspense and physical horror that we've come to know in the first three installments, and somehow manages to be even more mind bending if that's possible.

We subtly shift from straight horror to a more aligory in it's take. Reality and fantasy collide and it's all we can do to hold on to our own.

This is one of those tales to really makes you think long after the last page is turned and the last word read. There are a few connections to Dekker's previous title, Showdown (which not having read - I know shame, will rectify) but this did not detract from the overall conclusion. This tale is definetly not yet done entirely and one feels gently admonished to keep your 'Eyes Wide Open' as the tale continues.
I found the end of this story very . . . interesting. It certainly makes you think, and it makes some interesting points. I may be reading too much into it when I say the author puts the emphasis on love and totally ignores individual sin and the need for repentance and forgiveness. But maybe that's not the point he's trying to make.

I liked the last part. It sets up a series while also having a definite conclusion and a satisfying ending.

One note on the edition of all of these 4 parts of this book it seems to be formatted with extra wide margins on the sides. I read this on my phone, which has a 4-inch screen, and the margins made the individual lines of text very short on that device. I would advise the publisher, if they can, to replace the current edition with one that doesn't have these margin. I'm not sure why it's like that, I haven't seen that with other ebooks I've read. If they're trying to do something stylistically, it's not coming through, at least not on a phone. I didn't try looking at it on my tablet.
